EM.TV changes name to reflect focus

COLOGNE -- German media group EM.TV on Wednesday announced that it has changed its name to EM.SportMedia.

The switch is meant to emphasize the company's new focus on sports rights and merchandising, which account for the bulk of its business.

The Munich-based group, which at one time owned Jim Henson Co., is selling off its kids entertainment division to focus on sports rights and its all-sports channel DSF.

Company CEO Werner Klatten expects sports-related revenue to jump from €220 million ($295 million) to well over €400 million by 2010.
