Endemol names Maigret exec vp acquisitions

Based in L.A. to build up scripted business in North America

As part of its plan to expand in the U.S., Endemol has tapped Philippe Maigret as evp of acquisitions in North America. In his new role, Maigret will be responsible for expanding the format specialist's portfolio on this side of the Atlantic, with a focus on scripted shows. This will include developing distribution, financing and co-production partnerships with U.S. producers in collaboration with Endemol USA, Endemol Worldwide Distribution and Endemol's global format operation.

Maigret was formerly senior vp of business strategy and development at Disney ABC ESPN International where he was responsible for expanding the business globally and also led the Mouse House's move into the international production of reality and scripted TV formats. He also had stints at Centropolis, DreamWorks and StudioCanal.

As a producer, Maigret's movie credits include serving as exec producer on "The Young Americans" and co-executive producer on "Boiling Point" as well as production responsibilities on "Murder in the First" and "Stargate."

Maigret takes up the new role at Endemol in Los Angeles in March and will report to Tom Toumazis, chief commercial officer of Endemol Group, who joined the company last year after many years at Disney in London.

"Philippe has a track record that spans production, distribution, acquisition, business management and development. He couldn't be better qualified for this new role, which will be key to the strategic growth of Endemol's global distribution activities," Toumazis said.
