Endemol revamps management structure

TV program producer puts Ynon Kreiz in hot seat

LONDON -- Endemol CEO Ynon Kreiz is to take direct operational responsibility for the day-to-day running of the company as part of a management revamp.

The changes at the producer of such shows as "Wipeout," "Deal or No Deal" and "Big Brother" also sees current COO Marco Bassetti shifted to the nonexecutive role of president of Endemol Group.

Under the new structure, Kreiz is responsible for the management of Endemol's 26 global operating companies, which report directly to him.

In his new role, Bassetti oversees senior client relationships and leads special projects, managing the implementation of the company's growth strategy in what the group describes as a "nonexecutive advisory role" reporting to Kreiz.

In other changes, global head of programming Paul Roemer has been upped to the Endemol management board as chief creative officer, managing Endemol's creative teams around the world across all programming genres barring sport, which will now fall under the remit of chief commercial officer Tom Toumazis.

Toumazis adds participation TV, branded entertainment, consumer products and marketing to his distribution portfolio and will work with Endemol Sport's co-heads Lawrence Duffy and Gregg Oldfield, as well as with Paul Johnson, global head of marketing and brand partnerships, and Dennis Janzen, global head of participation TV. Toumazis will continue to oversee Endemol and Southern Star's merged distribution business, headed by recently appointed CEO Cathy Payne.

Kreiz, who took over as chairman and CEO of private equity-backed Endemol, said the new lineup delivers a more efficient management structure.

"These promotions underline the leading roles that Marco, Paul and Tom are playing in Endemol's commercial and creative strategy," he said. "In today's climate it is more important than ever to have the most effective management structure in place, and we couldn't ask for more highly skilled and experienced executives at the forefront of our business."

Endemol is jointly owned by Goldman Sachs, Mediaset and John de Mol's Cyrte Investments.
