'Endgame' lands TV, theatrical debuts

PBS, Monterey Media distributing political thriller

Pete Travis' political thriller "Endgame," about the negotiations that led to the end of apartheid in South Africa, will air on PBS' "Masterpiece Contemporary" on Oct. 25 and will be released theatrically by Monterey Media in select U.S. cities on Oct. 30.

"We're proud and excited to be partnering with 'Masterpiece' and PBS on 'Endgame,' " said Monterey Media CFO and managing partner Jere Rae-Mansfield. "The combined television broadcast and theatrical distribution will certainly raise its profile and make 'Endgame' accessible to millions of viewers."

"Endgame" will be the season premiere of "Masterpiece Contemporary's" 2009 season. Its cast includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, William Hurt, Jonny Lee Miller, Derek Jacobi and Clarke Peters.

In addition to the television broadcast and theatrical release, "Endgame" will be streamed on the PBS Web site and will be available through Monterey Media for home video and video on demand.

"Endgame" is a Daybreak Pictures production presented by Channel 4, Target Entertainment Group and Masterpiece. The producers are Hal Vogel and David Aukin. The executive producers are Rebecca Eaton for "Masterpiece," Liza Marshall for Channel 4, Arwel Rees for Tinopolis and Ian Jones and Alison Rayson for Target.
