Entertainment One, Beacon Pictures Pact to Develop Global TV Content

Armyan Bernstein's indie shingle will finance and produce scripted fare across a range of genres.

TORONTO -- Entertainment One is pacting with Armyan Bernstein's Beacon Pictures to make scripted TV and digital content across all genres.

The partners will develop up to 12 new TV series annually across all genres, especially one-hour dramas, half-hour comedies and miniseries.

Beacon, which is casting for its Agent X project for TNT ahead of a pilot shoot at the end of the year, is best known for its movie credits, including Air Force One, Spy Game and The Hurricane.

After discussions with a host of international companies, eOne emerged as the preferred partner for Beacon to create TV shows with worldwide appeal.

"eOne and its brilliant management team proved to be an irresistible combination, because they are a group of terrific people who are really smart, and they have the kind of resources you need to build a successful company in this ever changing market place," said Beacon Pictures founder and chairman Armyan Bernstein in a statement Thursday.

Beacon and eOne will jointly pitch and sell projects domestically, while eOne will handle international sales.

The Canadian-based distributor already internationally shops a host of series, including The Walking Dead and The Red Road.
