John McDonald joining Byron Allen's company in vp role

Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios has appointed John McDonald as vp marketing.

In his new role, McDonald will oversee and manage the strategic direction for all facets of Entertainment Studios marketing -- including brand strategy, consumer media planning, promotion of network distribution, affiliate marketing, ad sales partnerships and the interactive marketing initiatives for the company's six 24-hour HD cable nichers, led by Pets.TV, and for some two dozen syndicated TV shows.

McDonald will be based at Entertainment Studios' Los Angeles headquarters and will report to Janice Arouh, the newly appointed president of domestic distribution and marketing for Entertainment Studios Networks. Like Arouh, McDonald came from Hallmark Channels, where he was director of affiliate marketing.

"John's leadership, management depth and extensive trusting relationships with the distributor community are major assets as we embark on expanding the presence of our HD/3D networks and develop additional opportunities for growth across all platforms," said Allen, who is chairman-CEO of Entertainment Studios.

Before joining Hallmark in 2003, McDonald worked at Greenhaven Films for producer-director Peter Segal on Revolution Studios' "Anger Management" and NBC's "Hidden Hills."
