eOne, 'Rookie Blue' Showrunner Partner on 'Mary Kills People'

Tassie Cameron will executive produce the drama about an ER doctor who helps terminally ill patients die on their own terms.

Entertainment One and former Rookie Blue boss Tassie Cameron have gotten a greenlight for the assisted-suicide drama Mary Kills People from Canada's Global Television network.

Cameron, who was showrunner on Rookie Blue for Global and ABC, will executive produce the drama from creator/writer Tara Armstrong. Rookie Blue, also produced by eOne, was canceled after six seasons and 74 episodes.

Mary Kills People, to debut in January 2017, is set in the world of assisted suicide. Dr. Mary Harris, a single mother and an ER doctor by day, helps terminally ill patients die on their own terms by night.

When the police suspect that crimes have been committed, Harris must fight hard to stay in the killing game. Six episodes of Mary Kills People will shoot in Toronto, starting in summer 2016.

Mary Kills People is produced by eOne and Cameron Pictures, in association with Shaw Media. eOne is handling international distribution for the series.
