Eros sells Asian syndication

Broadcasters in seven nations sign deals with film giant

HONG KONG – Indian film giant Eros International has struck a string of package TV syndication deals with broadcasters around Asia.

It signed deals with Star Network for India, CCTV China, Vietnam TV, Astro TV & RTM TV Malaysia, IRIB TV Iran, Media Corp TV Singapore and MBC TV Dubai.

"Consistent with our strategy, we have executed a combination of pre-sales with Aladin and some recent and catalogue films to make an attractive package for Star," said Pranab Kapadia, president distribution at Eros. Value and size of the deals was not disclosed.

"Aladin" is the big-budget magic film starring Amitabh Bachchan as the genie and Riteish Deshmukh as Aladdin and Sanjay Dutt as the ringmaster. Directed by Sujoy Ghosh and making extensive use of the digital effect created in Eros' specially created SFX house Eyeqube, it went on Indian and global release last week.
