Eros signs film output deal with Zee TV
Latest in series of pacts for distributor
NEW DELHI -- Eros International Media Ltd. announced an exclusive multi-film content licensing deal worth 640 million rupees ($14.2 million) of select Eros titles to be telecast on Indian broadcaster Zee Entertainment’s television network.
These also include upcoming titles such as action caper “Agent Vinod” starring Saif Ali Khan, “Desi Boys” starring Akshay Kumar and John Abraham and comedy “No Problem” starring Anil Kapoor.
The Zee deal is the latest of recent output agreements Eros has concluded with other broadcasters such as Sony Entertainment Television and Star India.
In addition to music rights sales, these television rights sales have taken the company's total revenue rights for new and catalog films to 2.4 billion rupees, which will be reflected over the 2011 and 2012 financial years. “The television and music syndication deals will start augmenting revenues and deliver earnings that have attractive margins,” the company said in a statement.
As a pioneer in distributing Indian films overseas for over three decades, London and Mumbai-based Eros recently launched its Indian IPO on the Bombay Stock Exchange to raise 3.50 billion rupees.
