European Film Market shows uptick in 2010

Attendees describe business as solid, if not spectacular

COLOGNE, Germany -- Attendance figures at this year's European Film Market, which wrapped up in Berlin last Friday, showed a marked increase on 2009.

This year's EFM attracted 6,450 visitors, vs. 6,300 last year, and 1,300 buyers, vs. 1,050 in '09.

The number of films screened -- 666 -- was down from the 698 shown at the last EFM, and the 517 market premieres compares to 522 last year.

The figures confirm general impressions of business at this year's EFM, which most attendees described as solid, if not spectacular.
