European Producers Club Signs Co-Pro Deal With Russian Cinema Fund

Cooperation will bring together European projects with Russian production and funding partners.

COLOGNE, Germany - The European Producers Club, an association of leading independent European film producers, has signed an agreement with the Russian Cinema Fund to promote co-productions between Moscow and the rest of Europe.

The deal follows Russia's admission to Europe's co-production fund Eurimages in March this year. It is another signal both that Russia's film industry is inching westwards and that  western Europe is eager to access Russia's booming national business.

Under the agreement, the European Producers Club and the Russian fund will jointly pick between three to five European projects looking for Russian partners. The Russian Cinema Fund may also select a handful of Russian projects searching for European partners.

The fund hopes to present these projects at the Berlin Film Festival next year.
