Evans comes aboard as THR.com grows
EmptyDan Evans has been named news director of THR.com, overseeing the Web site's team of news editors, THR.com editor Melissa Grego said.
Evans will work closely with the editors of The Hollywood Reporter's daily and Premier editions to plan, package and present the day's news across all of THR's electronic channels, including the Web site, blogs, e-mail newsletters, the THR direct desktop news application and mobile.
Formerly Orange County bureau chief of the Los Angeles Daily Journal, Evans also has worked at the San Diego Union-Tribune and the San Francisco Examiner. Most recently, he was a senior investigator at the Los Angeles City Ethics Commission. He teaches a class in journalism ethics at California State University Long Beach.
Evans' appointment caps a series of staff additions and changes at THR.com.
Jenna Bordelon was promoted from night news editor to multimedia editor, where she oversees the Web site's growing video coverage of news, industry events and exclusive interviews and roundtables. Bordelon worked as a Web editor at AccessHollywood.com, NBC4.tv and the Robb Report.
Bordelon and Evans report to Scott McKim, managing editor of THR.com.
On the news team, Karen Nicoletti was promoted from news editor to senior news editor. A four-year veteran of The Reporter, Nicoletti oversees the site's international and festival coverage, working closely with bureaus in New York, London and Beijing to deliver news on THR.com and THR-Asia.com.
Earlier, Charley Daniels joined the online team as night news editor. He was a copy editor at Back Stage and TelevisionWeek.
Stephanie Robbins was appointed news and features editor, overseeing the online packaging of the paper's 200-plus annual special reports. She worked at TelevisionWeek and TVWeek.com.
Among the achievements of the paper's Web site so far this year, THR.com logged record traffic in April. The site also recently was named to Media Business' 10 Great Media Web sites. (partialdiff)
