'Everlasting Moments' for IFC

Picks up North American rights to Jan Troell's drama

NEW YORK -- IFC Films has nabbed North American rights to Jan Troell's Toronto entry "Everlasting Moments."

The Swedish-language drama follows the turmoil among members of a family in the early 20th century. Co-writer Troell ("The Emigrants") based the film on the life of his wife's grandmother.

"Moments" premiered Aug. 30 during a Telluride Film Festival tribute to Troell before its Toronto fest debut on Friday. IFC will release it through the day-and-date IFC In Theaters program next year.

The film is one of several foreign titles up for sale at this year's Toronto fest. If IFC's hefty Sundance and Festival de Cannes buys are any indication, it will be one of several pickups by the distributor this week.

IFC's Arianna Bocco negotiated the deal with TrustNordisk's Susan Wendt.
