Exec decisions at BBC Worldwide America


Garth Ancier, who was named president of BBC Worldwide America in February, has restructured his senior executive team with a handful of promotions intended to help take the company's U.S.-based businesses "to the next level."

Luke Bradley-Jones has been named to the newly created role of executive vp business development and digital media; Chris Carr has been named COO, U.S. channels; Andrew Bott's role as CFO has been expanded across the whole company to include BBC America; Paul Telegdy has been upped to executive vp content and production; Candace Carlisle has been promoted to executive vp co-productions and TV sales; Burton Cromer has been named executive vp consumer products; and Jo Petherbridge has been promoted to executive vp communications.

"By creating new roles, bringing in some fresh faces and promoting talent within the organization, I am positioning the company for growth," Ancier said. "The BBC produces more quality television content than any other company and is one of the premier media brands in the world. We now have a strong team working together to expand that brand across the U.S., focusing on growth areas including channels, content and production and digital."

Bradley-Jones, who most recently was head of strategy at BBC Worldwide in London, is set to transfer to the company's New York headquarters starting Sept. 1. He will work closely with Ancier and Michael Ross, recently appointed executive vp business affairs and operations, to develop new revenue streams and identify potential acquisitions and joint ventures. He also will oversee U.S. digital media initiatives, including setting and implementing the company's digital on-demand strategy.

Carr will assume responsibility for all channel operations. A member of the original BBC America launch team, Carr most recently was CFO.

Telegdy will continue to head the company's West Coast production house, whose credits include ABC's hit reality competition series "Dancing With the Stars." The company said that Telegdy's promotion "reflects the company's scale of ambition and addition of a second production base, in New York, focused on the cable industry."

Carlisle will continue to head up TV sales and co-production in the Americas for BBC Worldwide and its joint venture with Discovery Communications Inc., while Cromer will continue to manage the BBC's DVD business and support the company's online and magazine plans with the direct-to-consumer arm BBC America Shop.

In addition, communications has been consolidated under Petherbridge, formerly BBC America's publicity chief. Her restructured department will provide publicity, public relations and other communications services across all BBC businesses in North and South America.
