Jeff Hargleroad has been promoted to executive vp corporate operations at Sony Pictures Entertainment. Hargleroad, who joined Sony in 1995 as a certified public accountant, will oversee global facility operations and administration, SPE's digital authoring center and worldwide product fulfillment. He was senior vp worldwide product fulfillment.

Paramount Pictures has named Dan Butler senior vp business affairs and legal, music. Butler, who segues to Paramount after eight years at Warner Bros. Pictures, will be responsible for negotiating deals with composers, songwriters, co-publishers, music supervisors, record labels, recording artists and producers for Paramount's motion pictures, soundtracks and home entertainment releases. He also will handle the acquisition of copyrights in new compositions and master recordings. Butler will report to executive vp Daniel Ferleger.

Clyde Smith has been promoted to senior vp global broadcast technology and standards at Turner Broadcasting System, where he will lead technology and broadcast engineering decisions for Turner's global technology organization. Smith most recently was senior vp broadcast engineering, research and development, quality assurance and metrics at TBS.

Nancy McGee has been appointed as senior vp marketing at Starz Entertainment, where she will lead a marketing communications, branding, research, online/new media and product development team. McGee joins Starz after serving two years as senior vp marketing and sales at Adelphia Communications before it was sold to Time Warner Cable and Comcast Cable.

Thomas Armentrout has been named vp human resources at Disney-ABC Media Networks, where he will oversee leading business partner teams in support of global media businesses. Armentrout most recently served as executive vp human resources strategic partnerships at Countrywide Financial Corp. and at IBM Business Consulting Services, PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting and KPMG Peat Marwick Llp.

Timothy Boell has been upped to group vp national accounts at Sundance Channel. Boell, who has worked at Sundance Channel for 10 years, will continue managing strategies for the affiliate sales team with Gretchen Beidl, executive vp affiliate sales and marketing, to whom he reports. Also at Sundance Channel, Karrin Smoley has been named vp affiliate sales, where she will manage several corporate accounts. Smoley most recently served as national account director affiliate sales at Oxygen.

Faye Walker has been named vp worldwide television marketing at MGM. Walker will be responsible for the marketing of all MGM television programming worldwide, including cable, syndication, ad sales, VOD initiatives and campaigns as well as the creation of collateral marketing materials to support TV programs and feature films made for television. Before joining MGM, Walker held vp marketing positions at Tennis Channel and GSN.
