Worker was pinned between a tree and a runaway truck

A security guard died Monday night on the set of TNT's Falling Skies in Vancouver after he was struck by an unattended truck that rolled down a slope.

Scott McCloy, a spokesman for WorkSafeBC (the province's worker's compensation board), told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday that the fatal incident took place at around 8:30 p.m. Monday in Burnaby, a suburb of Vancouver.

McCloy said the deceased worker, whose name has not been released, was hired to conduct security and was standing near a 5-ton truck parked on a slope. He added that the tailgate on the truck, which was left unattended, was down to off-load equipment.

"The truck rolled backwards down the slope and caught the deceased worker between the tailgate and a tree," McCloy said. He said WorkSafeBC, the local police and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are investigating the workplace incident.

Filming has been halted on Falling Skies.

TNT recently ordered a fifth and final season of 10 episodes for the sci-fi epic, executive produced by Steven Spielberg and toplined by Noah Wyle.
