Fantasia Barrino opens up on ABC
'American Idol' star working through issues with life coachAccumulated career pressures and private challenges drove "American Idol" star Fantasia Barrino to attempt to take her life two weeks ago, the singer told ABC News' "Good Morning America" on Tuesday.
"I think I was overloaded with everything, with carrying six years of so much," Barrino told Robin Roberts in her first major media appearance since the suicide attempt. "I always take a licking and keep on ticking...it just became heavy for me to the point that I just wanted to be away from the noise."
She cited drama and criticism she faced at "Idol" during its 2004 season, her being without management, going through a foreclosure and personal trust issues as factors. Barrino also mentioned her relationship with a married man as a contributing factor.
She said she has been working with a life coach who has been helping her cope with her issues.
