Bell Media, Canada's top-rated broadcaster, is following rival Rogers Media after it earlier partnered with Vice Media to launch its own Toronto production studio to develop and produce digital projects for global export, while also building Rogers' millennial audience.
Bell Media, a traditional broadcast player, in Guy and his DAIS incubator is also getting a digitally savvy partner to target elusive young audiences. "These are changing times and Bell Media’s commitment to adapting by supporting the artists who will shape our future is extremely inspiring," Guy said in a statement.
DAIS has also struck a partnership with recording label and artist management group Pirates Blend/ Sony Music Canada, and with Cadence/ Universal Music Group to co-develop musical talent. Before joining Tribeca, Guy was brought down to New York City by Arista Records to serve as director of international artist development, after he was associate manager of urban music at BMG Music Canada.
He has produced for Lauryn Hill, P Diddy, India Arie, k-os, among other music artists. DAIS is also to produce a four-part music-video series with Canadian electronic group A Tribe Called Red.
