FCC denies delays in Comcast-NBC Uni review

Tells THR: 'We have not announced a timetable'

The FCC may not finish its regulatory review of the proposed Comcast-NBC Universal deal until February, while the Department of Justice is still expected to make a decision by year's end, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing agency officials.

But an FCC spokeswoman on Tuesday morning wouldn't confirm any FCC delays. "We have not announced a timetable," she told The Hollywood Reporter.

And a Comcast spokeswoman said: "We continue to expect regulatory approvals will be concluded by the end of the year."

The Journal mentioned the possible delay in the merger review as part of a broader look at delays of various FCC actions. For example, the paper also said that the agency won't finish a congressionally mandated review of media ownership rules this year.

FCC chairman Julius Genachowski recently also delayed action on a net neutrality proposal.
