FCC rejects 'NYPD' appeal

WASHINGTON -- The FCC on Tuesday rejected an appeal of its indecency fine over an episode of "NYPD Blue" and gave about 40 ABC affiliates until Thursday to pay up, to the tune of $27,500 each.

It also canceled the fines for about a dozen other affiliates. The regulator said Jan. 25 that "the depiction of an adult woman's naked buttocks" in a February 2003 airing of the cop drama "was sufficiently graphic and explicit to support an indecency finding."
