Ferran gives her Regard to Cannes

PARIS -- French helmer Pascale Ferran will chair Un Certain Regard jury at the 60th annual Festival de Cannes in May, organizers said Wednesday.

Ferran's "Lady Chatterley" was an awards season favorite this year, taking home five Cesar Awards, including best film, as well as France's prestigious Prix Louis-Delluc award.

Ferran is a Cannes veteran. She made her debut at the fest in 1990 with her short film "The Kiss," returned in 1992 as screenwriter for Arnaud Desplechin's In Competition title "The Sentinel" and took home the Camera d'Or Prize in 1994 for her first feature, "Coming to Terms With the Dead."

Un Certain Regard sidebar will include about 20 films, and the winner will be announced May 26. All the films in selection will be screened May 30-June 5 for the public at Paris' Reflet-Medicis cinema.
