FIC, Fireworks ink distribution deal

Brings shortform content to non-News Corp. platforms

Fox International Channels has signed a distribution agreement with Fireworks, the TV and digital programming distribution arm of Britain's ContentFilm. The accord grants Fireworks International the rights to distribute FIC's original shortform content to non-News-Corp.-owned media platforms around the world. No financial details were available.

The distribution deal comes on the heels of FIC's global plan to release its six original shortform series, under the brand "FoxBytes," on FIC's multimedia platforms this summer. Fireworks will then expand "FoxBytes" distribution to third-party platforms all over the world starting in November. The series will be ad-supported and offered on a streaming, VOD and SVOD basis.

Jonathan Ford, senior vp of digital acquisitions and distribution at Fireworks International, said: "FoxBytes provides a strong example of how original programming ideas can be executed in short format for multiplatform viewing, and we are excited to be working with Fox International Channels on these properties."

FIC's 3.5 hours of original content include: "Single Dads," a comedy that chronicles the misadventures of two young dads struggling with the responsibility of raising kids on their own; "Security 7," an animation series about an American military base hidden in the Middle East; and "Dito," a stop-motion animation series about every man's unleashed alter ego.
