'Fight of the Living Dead' First Show Acquired For ‘Con TV

The scripted reality horror series picked up by Cinedigm for new direct-to-consumer streaming service.

Nine YouTube stars will be on computer screens, television screens, phone screens and tablet screens as they try to survive a 24-hour simulated zombie apocalypse. It will all be happening in Alpine Labs’ series Fight of the Living Dead, which Cinedigm has announced it has acquired.

The show is the first original series acquisition for the direct-to-consumer streaming network ‘CON TV, Cinedigm's offering for pop culture and Comic-Con fans that launches later this year. The Netflix-like service will be driven by genre product like horror, thrillers and science fiction, and will offer both an ad-supported service and a subscription service.

The competition-reality series is described in a Cinedigm announcement as “a groundbreaking case study in transitioning YouTube stars into the larger media landscape.”

“We think Fight of the Living Dead is a killer concept,” said Erick Opeka, Cinedigm’s executive vp of digital networks. “The series is a brilliant way to kick off ‘CON TV’s original programming roster and introduce this innovative crop of talent to new audiences.”

YouTube stars include Jesse Wellens and Jeana  Smith of Prank vs. Prank, Joey Graceffa, and Justine Ezarik of iJustine, among others.
