Talks set for Tuesday

SAG and the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers are in the midst of a three-day break before starting up talks again Tuesday. The actors union and the AMPTP finished talks Friday with no new deal after resuming talks Wednesday following AFTRA's tentative primetime TV deal with the studios early that morning. In a statement to members, SAG president Alan Rosenberg told members the three-day break is because of a pre-planned AMPTP fundraiser today.

Kerr Smith will star as Axel Palmer in Lionsgate's "My Bloody Valentine 3-D" alongside Jaime King and Jensen Ackles. Patrick Lussier is helming the remake of the 1981 slasher film about a murderer who kills those who celebrate Valentine's Day. A Jan. 23 release is planned.

Money at Munich

The Filmfest Muenchen, Munich's summer film festival, is creating two lucrative prizes for non-German films. The ARRI-Zeiss Award for best foreign film, accompanied by a €50,000 ($78,000) prize, will make its debut at the 26th edition, set for June 20-28. The Cinevision Award, worth €12,000 ($19,000), will go to the best non-German debut.
