Barton jumps to Paradigm

Mischa Barton has signed with Paradigm in all areas. Barton rose to stardom as the lead in the Fox series "The O.C."; she is the lead in Yari Film Group's "Assassination of a High School President," which bows in the fall. She won the Teen Choice Award as breakout TV star in 2004 and TV choice best actress in 2006.

Opera for Allen

Woody Allen will make his debut as an opera director when he joins William Friedkin in helming Puccini's "Il Trittico," a trio of one-act operas, for the Los Angeles Opera. Allen will direct "Gianni Schicchi," while Friedkin will handle "Il Tabarro" and "Suor Angelica." Tony-winning production designer Santo Loquasto, who has worked on more than 20 Allen films, will design the operas. Music director James Conlon will conduct for the six performances from Sept. 6-26.


Charles Durning will receive a Star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. The ceremony, which will feature his daughter Anita Gregory and co-host Lee Purcell, will take place at 6504 Hollywood Blvd., just East of Wilcox Avenue.
