Eastwood honorClint Eastwood will be honored by the Thalians, a Cedars-Sinai mental health support group founded by Debbie Reynolds and Ruta Lee, for his lifetime achievements at its 53rd anniversary ball Nov. 2 at the Beverly Hilton. Previous honorees include Roger Moore, Sally Field, Liza Minnelli, Mary Tyler Moore, Shirley MacLaine, Burt Bacharach, Whoopi Goldberg, Carol Burnett and Angela Lansbury.
Boston shoot-out
The 24th Boston Film Festival, which runs Sept. 12-17 at the Kendall Square Theatres, will kick off with "Appaloosa," a Western directed by Ed Harris, who stars with Viggo Mortensen and Renee Zellweger. Marc Abraham's "Flash of Genius," starring Greg Kinnear, will serve as the closing-night feature.

German producer- distributor Senator Entertainment will focus more on homegrown films after a string of U.S. flops led to a €10 million ($15 million) net loss in the first half. Revenue also dropped sharply, falling 43% to €16 million ($23.5 million).
'Complex' Decision
Uli Edel's 1970s terrorist drama "The Baader Meinhof Complex" will open this year's Zurich Film Festival, with the Sept. 25 premiere coinciding with the film's general release in Germany.
