SAG meets mediator

SAG is hoping to resume negotiations with the help of a federal mediator. The actors union's leaders — including SAG president Alan Rosenberg, national executive director and chief negotiator Doug Allen and Ray Rodriguez, deputy national executive director for contracts — met Friday with federal mediator Juan Carlos Gonzalez in Los Angeles. In a statement, SAG said the leadership discussed its request for mediation and "the possibilities regarding the resumption of negotiations." Until now, SAG — which said it has requested to start negotiations with the AMPTP but was refused — has said informal talks were taking place with members of the AMPTP and industry leaders. Gonzalez is set to meet with the AMPTP on Thursday.


The Motion Picture Club has named Amy Adams and Richard Jenkins as its stars of the year. Ed Harris will be honored as director of the year for his Western "Appaloosa" at the group's 68th annual Installation and Awards Luncheon. The ceremony, which also will fete newcomers Rosemarie DeWitt and Luke Goss, is set for Nov. 6 in New York.


French production and distribution giant EuropaCorp has named Jean-Julien Baronnet its CEO. Baronnet was executive vp at international chemical company Rhodia group and deputy CEO of Ose Consulting.
