Film Commissioners Name Rajiv Dalal President
Jess Conoplia named EVP/COO as the group undergoes a restructuring.
The Association of Film Commissioners International has named Rajiv Dalal to the newly created position of president and Jess Conoplia to EVP/COO, also a newly created position. Conoplia will report to Dalal — both based in Los Angeles — as AFCI centralizes its operations.
The appointments are part of an organization-wide restructuring that will concentrate on economic growth and working more closely with policymakers and content creators.
The announcement was made at the start of AFCI’s 41st annual Cineposium, which brings together 100 film commissioners from around the world. The event runs from today through Sunday in Los Angeles.
Prior to joining AFCI, Dalal held such posts as managing director of MPAA’s India office, executive director of Time Warner’s Asia-Pacific Corporate Affairs Division and deputy film czar for the City of Los Angeles, where he helped engineer and usher in the enhanced California film/TV tax credit.
Conoplia previously held positions with Wanda Studios Qingdao, the British Film Commission and Screen Queensland, where she oversaw billions of dollars in production investment bolstering local economies. She also served as global executive director of the China Hollywood Society.
The new execs plan to focus on global production policy space and educating government officials on industry best practices that promote enhanced economic development and job growth.
