Film Department going public

Upcoming titles include 'The Rebound,' 'Earthbound'

The Film Department, the indie film finance/production company that Mark Gill and Neil Sacker founded in 2007, is planning to go public, filing for an initial public offering on Monday.

The company announced Monday that it has filed a Form S-1 registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The number of shares to be offered and the price range for the offering have not been determined.

Girard Securities is managing the offering.

The Film Department, which focuses on movies in the $10-$45 million range, has the revenge drama "Law-Abiding Citizen," starring Gerard Butler and Jamie Fox, in current release, where it has grossed more than $70 million domestically.

Other upcoming titles include "The Rebound," starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, and "Earthbound," starring Kate Hudson.
