Film Exec Kahli Small Joins NBC Entertainment in Drama Development

Most recently of GK Films, she will serve as senior vp under Pearlena Igbokwe.

NBC Entrainment has tapped Kahli Small for drama development. The film exec will serve as the new senior vice president of the department, as announced Monday by NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke.

“We are thrilled to have Kahli bring her incredible talent for developing compelling drama to NBC,” said Salke. “Today, the distinction between the big and small screen is more and more irrelevant; instead there are just good stories – and Kahli has a knack for finding and nurturing them.”

Small most recently served as vp of production and development for Graham King's GK Films, which has produced such Oscar-winners as Argo, The Departed and Hugo. She also spent eight years at Focus Features, where she last served as executive vp of production.

“I’m looking forward to the contribution Kahli will make to our team,” added executive vp of drama development Pearlena Igbokwe, to whom Small will report. “She has demonstrated – both at GK Films and Focus Features – the ability to develop smart, prestigious projects that have enjoyed critical and commercial success – which is the future of drama development at NBC.”

Other films which Small had a hand in include Milk, Eastern Promises, The American, The Kids Are All Right and the upcoming Freddy Mercury biopic starring Sasha Baron Cohen.
