Filmart: Record Number of European Sales Companies Attending

Berlin Film Festival
"The Stations of the Cross"

32 European sales agents will screen at the Hong Kong film market, which runs March 24-27.

Hong Kong's Filmart, which kicks off its 18th edition March 24, will have a record number of European films on offer, with some 32 European sales agents making the trip to pitch their wares to the Asian market.

In total, the firms will screen 42 features from 15 European countries for Filmart buyers. Among the titles are Paolo Virzi's Human Capital, which Bac is selling worldwide; and Dietrich Bruggemann's Catholic drama The Stations of the Cross, which won the best screenplay honor at its premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival last month -- and which Germany's Beta Film is selling internationally.

European Film Promotion (EFP), with the backing of the European Union's MEDIA Program and EFP member associations, has earmarked close to $150,000 (€107,300) for the promotional campaigns of European films abroad.

The EFP will be hosting its annual European umbrella stand at the Filmart, alongside national film stands UniFrance and FilmExport UK.

The 18th Filmart runs March 24-27.
