Filmax extending 'Invitation' globally

Picks up rights to Kevin Ko directorial debut

MADRID -- Spanish mini-studio Filmax said Tuesday that it has picked up international sales rights, excluding Asia, Germany and Poland, to Taiwanese horror film "Invitation Only."

"This is a first for us," Filmax CEO Carlos Fernandez said. "It's the first time a company from Asia is entrusting its product to us to handle worldwide sales despite the abundance of sales agents in Asia.

"Invitation," a production of Taiwan's Three Dots Entertainment, marks the directorial debut of Kevin Ko. It tells the story of five people who dream of joining the ranks of society's wealthy and are invited to an exclusive party that turns sour when they discover that one of them has been murdered.

Filmax, home of the production genre label Fantastic Factory and one of Spain's top sales outfits, will present a promo of the film at Cannes.
