Filmax's Fernandez cleared of charges

MADRID -- Filmax president Julio Fernandez was cleared of all charges involving the alleged misappropriation of funds during his time heading film distributor Ivex Films more than a dozen years ago.

The regional court's decision, which was made public Friday, absolves Fernandez, finding no evidence of wrongdoing.

Upon hearing the decision, Fernandez expressed faith in the justice system.

"I never questioned the legitimacy of the justice system, which I respect," Fernandez said. "I'm sorry for the damage -- some irreparable -- it has caused the image of my moral solvency due to ill-willed publicity during the process."
