FilmBuff and Dada Films to Distribute 'Miss Lovely'

Ashim Ahluwalia's retro-thriller is set amid the underbelly of the Indian film industry.

FilmBuff is teaming with M.J. Peckos and Steven Raphael’s Dada Films to distribute writer/director Ashim Ahluwalia’s Miss Lovely, which premiered at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.

The film, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Anil George and Niharika Singh, will be released theatrically in New York and Los Angeles on June 20, with an expansion to follow.

“Through its docu-narrative hybrid approach, Miss Lovely delivers a gritty, powerful lens into a stranger-than-fiction world that will surely resonate with audiences here in the United States,” FilmBuff’s head of content Steven Beckman said.

The film, produced by Future East with Shumona Goel as executive producer, is set in Mumbai in the 1980s and looks at the underbelly of India’s film industry.
