Films from Hong Kong, Vietnam Take Top Prize at 2011 HAF Awards

HONG KONG – Philip Yung’s Port of Call from Hong Kong and Bui Thac Chuyen’s Dream State from Vietnam took home the 2011 HAF Awards and a cash prize of HK$150,000 ($19,200), selected among 28 projects from 13 regions at the Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum.

The Wouter Barendrecht Award went to Where Is My Home? by China’s Li Ruijun, who received a cash prize of HK$50,000 from the Wouter Barendrecht Film Foundation and Hong Kong Film Development Fund. Li was also selected among 70 Chinese-language scripts to receive a HK$100,000 cash prize from the HAF Script Development Fund Chinese Script Fund, which was awarded for the first time this year to support up-and-coming filmmakers in the Chinese-speaking film industry.

Campus Confidential by Taiwan’s Lai Chun-Yu won the Technicolor Asia Award, while Big Father, Small Father and Other Stories by Vietnam’s Phan Dang Di took the Paris Project Award.
