Films in Progress titles unveiled

San Sebastian sidebar is set for Sept. 23-24

MADRID -- Six films produced in Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Nicaragua have been chosen to participate in Films in Progress 14 at this year's San Sebastian International Film Festival.

Carlos Serrano Azcona's "El Arbol" (Mexico), Santiago Loza's "Artico" (Argentina), Cristian Jimenez "Ilusiones Opticas" (Chile-Portugal-France), Sebastian Silva's "La Nana" (Chile), Rigoberto Perezcano "Norteando" (Mexico) and Florencia Jaugey's "La Yuma" (Nicaragua-Mexico) -- all produced in collaboration with other countries -- will vie for the section's grand prize.

The winner will receive funds toward their project's completion and a slot in next year's festival.

Also on Tuesday, San Sebastian revealed 15 titles to screen in the Made in Spain sidebar that groups the past year's crop of Spanish films.

Among those chosen are Juan Antonio Bayona's "The Orphanage," Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza's "[REC]," Alex de la Iglesia's "Oxford Crimes" and "La Zona," winner of last year's Fipresci international critics' award at Toronto.

The Films in Progress sidebar will take place Sept. 23-24.
