Final 2 'Lost' seasons to have extra episodes

ABC has found more hours for the final two seasons of "Lost."

The 2009 and 2010 seasons of the hit drama will be 17 hours each — not 16 as previously planned.

ABC has added the two remaining hours, which were knocked out of the current season because of the WGA strike, to the series' production schedule.

The industrywide production shutdown originally cost "Lost" three episodes. But ABC added an extra hour to Part 2 of the season finale that airs May 29 for a total of 14 hours this season.

All told, the changes will wrap up the show with the same number of episodes that producers and ABC negotiated last year.

Co-creator Damon Lindelof ruled out extending the show beyond the remaining 34-episode order.

As for the series finale, "We can guarantee our show will not end with a cut to black, it will be more clear than that," Lindelof said, referring to the infamous final scene of "The Sopranos." (partialdiff)
