Fine Cut sells 'Chaser' to U.S., U.K.

Na Hong Jin's hit feature finds wings at Cannes

CANNES - Seoul-based independent film sales agent Fine Cut on Monday sold U.K. and U.S. rights to South Korean director Na Hong Jin’s “The Chaser,” an out of competition feature at the Cannes Film Festival.

The hit film's U.K. rights went to Metrodome while U.S. rights went to IFC. Over four million tickets to the film sold in South Korea and Warner Bros. previously bought remake rights.

With the purchase, Metrodome CEO Peter Urie continues an Asian shopping spree begun with the purchase of Chinese director Feng Xiaogang's “Assembly” at the American Film Market in November, followed by the purchase of Feng's earlier film “The Banquet.”

Metrodome also recently bought Hong Kong director Peter Chan's “The Warlords” and, from Fortissimo Films, Hong Kong director Jacob Cheung's “Battle of Wits."
