Finish line in sight for Locarno
'Outlander' set for Piazza Grande on FridayLOCARNO, Switzerland -- The 61st annual Locarno Film Festival began wending toward its close Thursday as the Karim Dridi drama "Khama" screened in the Piazza Grande on yet another overcast and drizzly night.
Friday's lineup will be headlined by a Piazza Grande screening of Howard McCain's graphic adventure story "Outlander," while the aptly named "Back Soon," from Iceland's Solveig Anspach, will unspool Saturday after the awards ceremony.
So far, critics following the festival seem to agree that no favorite has emerged from the 17-film competition section, which wraps Friday.
The festival was visibly winding down Thursday, with less activity in the previously bustling industry lounge, and ticket sales slowing. But despite the rainy or overcast weather that persisted for all but two nights, organizers and industry participants said they were pleased with the fest's lineup and the size of the crowds.
