Film has 2 mil admissions in Korea to date

SEOUL -- “71-Into the Fire,” a war epic by director Lee Jae-han will be released in the United States next month, the film’s distributor Lotte Entertainment announced Wednesday.

The film will open on 14 screens in L.A., San Francisco, New York, Washington and Philadelphia on July 30 in theater chains including AMC and MPARK4. The number might expand depending on the boxoffice score.

The film about student soldiers from the Korean War opened here earlier this month, and sold 2 million tickets as of Tuesday. Overseas, the film was sold to Showbox (U.K.) and Ascot Elite (Germany and Switzerland), and was recently selected as the closing film for the Hawaii International Film Festival.
