First Live Opera Shot in 3D Coming to Theaters March 5

'Carmen in 3D' to be released in 1,500 locations worldwide

The first ever live opera shot in 3D, Carmen in 3D, will be released in 1,500 locations March 5.

The film is a co-production of RealD Inc. and the Royal Opera House.

The locations make it the widest release of a filmed live theatrical entertainment event.

Shot in the Royal Opera House, the production is directed for cinema by Julian Napier and produced by Phil Streather, with performances by Christine Rice (Carmen), Bryan Hymel (Don José), Aris Argiris (Escamillo), and conducted by Constantinos Carydis,

Carmen in 3D first premiered on February 6 as part of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival closing night gala.
