First Look Media is bolstering its film, TV and digital ranks and has tapped AMC Networks and Paramount Television veteran Jason Fisher as senior vp and head of production and Ryan Heller as vp acquisitions. Fisher and Heller join First Look Media’s programming and content team as the three-year-old, New York-based media company, launched by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar and run by Michael Bloom, continues to build its slate of programming.

Fisher and Heller join First Look, which produced and co-financed Oscar best picture winner Spotlight, as it ramps up its output. Fisher will oversee scripted and unscripted productions for digital, TV and film, while Heller will be tasked with forging new partnerships and expanding the number of titles the company acquires. Both will report to Adam Pincus, First Look's executive vp programming and content.

“Over the last year, we’ve been working with some of the best talent and creators out there on projects that are ambitious and original in every way,” Pincus said. “With Jason and Ryan on board, we can more deeply support and deliver on our creative partners’ vision as well as seek out strategic acquisitions that complement our originals."

The company has a number of hot projects in the works, including a Morgan Spurlock-produced doc on the right-wing patriot movement. First Look also is moving forward with the hacktivist thriller We Do Not Forget, starring Daniel Radcliffe and Zachary Quinto.

Fisher has an extensive background as a producer and senior executive at major media companies, helping to build some of the most prolific studios in television. He served as senior vp and head of production at AMC Networks, where he helped create their internal studio that produced hit such shows as The Walking Dead, Mad Men and Breaking Bad. More recently, he was executive vp and head of production at Paramount Television, where he managed such successful productions as Grease Live for Fox, School of Rock for Nickelodeon, Shooter for TNT and Resident Advisors for Hulu, among others. Fisher also served as vp production at ABC Studios during a time of extensive growth and creative change there. Before his stint as a TV executive, Fisher was an independent producer for more than a decade.

“I’m so impressed by the entire team and their mission to create content on multiple platforms from the most independent and compelling voices in media," Fisher said. "We’re not only building a studio that supports talent but also produces content in the most efficient and impactful way to connect with its audience.”

Heller joins First Look with an extensive background in the film and digital space as well as business development. He was senior director of acquisitions and distribution at Starz Entertainment where he led distribution deals and feature film releases for Starz Digital, the company’s multiplatform distribution arm. Starz titles include Tumbledown, The Family Fang, My Blind Brother and Miss Sharon Jones!

"From my initial meeting at First Look, I was energized by the company's bold mission, creator-friendly approach and taste," Heller said. "I could not be more excited to join this remarkable team."

First Look’s other recent projects include Laura Poitras' Risk, which debuted in Cannes; Missing Richard Simmons, a new podcast searching for the original fitness guru who was once one of the most accessible celebrities and an untitled shortform scripted series created by writer-performer Cirocco Dunlap (Man Seeking Woman, The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon), executive produced by Dan Powell (Inside Amy Schumer).
