Dan Krauss' 'The Kill Team,' starring Alexander Skarsgard, will have a drive-in screening in New York at the largest Nordic film event outside Europe.

The Nordic International Film Festival, the largest Scandinavian film showcase outside Europe, has unveiled the lineup for its mostly virtual 6th edition from Oct. 15-20 in New York.

The A24 horror film Midsommar, director Ari Aster's sophomore feature that stars Florence Pugh, is set to open the Nordic International Film Festival with a drive-in screening on Oct. 15. Also getting drive-in play at the Brooklyn Army Terminal in New York on Oct. 16 will be A24’s The Kill Team, starring Alexander Skarsgard as it portrays a young soldier during the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan who witnesses war atrocities.

The NIFF, set to run as a mostly virtual festival amid the Coronavirus pandemic, will also present three world premieres: Jan Vardoen's Oslo Copenhagen; Gianluca Lumiento's NovemberOslo; and the sci-fi pic A Report On the Party and the Guests, directed by Soren Peter Langkjaer Bojsen.

And there's a North American premiere for Trond Kvig Andreassen's documentary Everything That Could Have Been, and U.S. premieres for Force of Habit, an anthology series by seven directors, and Petra and Peter, directed by Johanna Aust.

As a part of the festival’s mandate, half of the NIFF’s online ticket sales will be donated to organizations supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.

“We’re thrilled that in current times we’re all faced with, we’re able to showcase films from the Nordic regions and with Nordic talent, with climate-consciousness in mind. We’re very proud of the lineup this year, thankful to A24 and Rooftop Films for their partnership with the drive-in events, and look forward to celebrating with our filmmakers in a virtual setting”, NIFF director Johan Matton and creative director and co-founder Linnea Larsdotter said in a joint statement.

The full film lineup can be found at the festival website.
