FME takes stake in Wide Eyed Ent.
First-look development deal with factual indie bannerLONDON -- Global producer/distributor FremantleMedia has taken an undisclosed stake in U.K. factual indie banner Wide Eyed Entertainment.
The outfit was launched last year by former Impossible Pictures and BBC executive Jasper James, producer and director of "Walking With Dinosaurs," and former BBC and Channel 4 executive producer David McNab.
The pact, announced Thursday, will give Fremantle a three-year, first-look development deal with Wide-Eyed, a specialist in CGI-based factual and docudrama programming. They also will handle the indie's global distribution and brand management.
FremantleMedia Enterprises COO Dan Allen said the partnership represents the first of many and that the deal is "the perfect opportunity" to get in on the ground floor with projects that will have great international appeal. "We're really pleased to be working with the Wide Eyed team and to developing more relationships of this nature," he said.
