Focus Features promotes 2 in N.Y.

NEW YORK -- Focus Features is ramping up its production efforts by upping two key New York-based execs.

David Gerson has been promoted from creative executive to vp production and development, and Matthew Plouffe has been promoted from assistant of production head John Lyons to creative executive.

Gerson now reports to Lyons and Plouffe reports to Gerson. Each started in 2004, previously worked as assistants to Lyons and have worked together on Focus films made with Random House Films and other projects. Gerson was the creative exec on "Reservation Road" and some upcoming RHF projects.

The moves reflect Focus' move towards increased production as parent company Universal Pictures takes over marketing and distribution of its Rogue Pictures genre movies and ramps up its new international production arm.
