Focus Features promotes trio to vp publicity

NEW YORK -- Focus Features is bumping three of its longtime publicists upstairs. V.J. Carbone, Harlan Gulko and Kyle Thorpe have each been named vp publicity. Omar Gonzales joins the company as a senior publicist.

Former directors of national publicity Carbone and Gulko will remain in their East and West Coast offices, respectively, and former director of field publicity Thorpe also will remain in Universal City. All three will report to president of worldwide publicity and executive vp marketing Adriene Bowles.

Gonzales, a DreamWorks publicist for five years, will be based in New York and report to East Coast publicity department head and senior vp publicity Donna Dickman.

Carbone and Thorpe joined Focus in 2004, and Gulko joined in 2002. Before Focus, Carbone worked at Donna Daniels Public Relations, GMHC, the Roundabout Theater and as an independent publicist.

Gulko arrived at Focus after serving three years as a senior publicist at Fox Searchlight and three years as a publicist at BWR Public Relations. Thorpe previously served two years as manager of regional publicity and promotions at MGM/UA, and before that was manager of national promotion at Artisan Entertainment.
