Focus launches Africa First

Project to be supervised by Kisha Imani Cameron

Focus Features is launching the Africa First Program, offering five filmmakers $10,000 each to produce narrative shorts in continental Africa.

AFP was conceived and will be supervised by producer Kisha Imani Cameron, whose Completion Films has a first-look and consulting deal with Focus She and creative exec Matthew Plouffe will evaluate submissions, which will be accepted through July 15.

Focus will retain North American rights to the shorts and first negotiation rights to productions derived from them, with the filmmakers retaining all other rights.
