Food Network spices up three new series

'Chefs vs. City,' 'Extreme Cuisine,' 'Worst Cooks' joining sked

Food Network is heading into next season with three new primetime series.

Arriving in July is "Chefs vs. City," in which chefs Chris Cosentino and Aaron Sanchez are pitted against two local foodies in different cities. The globe-trotting "Extreme Cuisine With Jeff Corwin" will premiere in September, followed by the January launch of "Worst Cooks in America," in which chefs Anne Burrell and Beau MacMillan each take on six hopeless home cooks and try to transform them to gourmet chefs in 10 days.

Returning series include "The Next Food Network Star," "The Next Iron Chef" and "Ultimate Recipe Showdown."

Additionally, "Foods That Changed the World," a miniseries about foods through human history, hosted by Alton Brown, will premiere in the third quarter of 2010.

Food Network's daytime offerings include "Sandra's Money Saving Meals," starring Sandra Lee; "What Would Brian Boitano Make?" starring the Olympic figure skating champion; "5 Ingredient Fix," hosted by Claire Robinson; "Take on the Takeout," starring Danny Boome"; and a second season of "Viva Daisy!"
