Former Top ViacomCBS, WarnerMedia, Telemundo Execs Join New Univision Senior Leadership Team

ViacomCBS executive Pierluigi Gazzolo, former Telemundo president Luis Siberwasser, andformer WarnerMedia ad sales chief Donna Speciale will be among the new executives at the Spanish-language giant.

Univision Communications, now under new ownership, has named a fresh slate of executives to lead the company alongside CEO Wade Davis.

Pierluigi Gazzolo will become president ad chief transformation officer for the company. Gazzolo was a longtime veteran of Viacom, where he worked alongside Davis, who was Viacom's CFO before joining the venture that acquired Univision. He was most recently president of streaming and studios for ViacomCBS Networks International.

The company has also tapped Luis Silberwasser to be president of the Univision Television Networks Group. Silberwasser was most recently president of Telemundo Networks, the NBCUniversal-owned company that is Univision's primary competitor in the Spanish-language TV space.

Donna Speciale, who had been the head of advertising sales for Time Warner and then WarnerMedia, will become president of ad sales and marketing for Univision.

Elsewhere: Jessica Rodriguez will be CMO and president of entertainment. She is a 19-year veteran of Univision, including executive roles in cable networks, program scheduling and promotions. Friday Abernethy will be executive vp of content distribution and partnerships, she had been senior vp of content distribution for the company. Glenn Dryfoos wil be executive vp of business affairs and general counsel, Amy Tenbrink will be executive vp and associate general counsel, and Adam Shippee will be executive vp of corporate development, strategy and transformation.

One that will see us accelerate our position as the leading U.S. Hispanic media company as we launch new products and services that will drive value for our U.S. Hispanic audience and for our advertising and distribution partners, who want to reach and engage with this critical audience,” said Wade Davis in a statement. “Achieving our objectives will require new ways of working together, diversity of perspectives and in some cases new talent and skillsets... Each of these leaders understand the need to optimize Univision’s core businesses to meet its audience where they are and evolve its content, platforms and products to reach the market in new ways.”
