Fortissimo names Chris Paton vp

PR exec to work in acquisitions and development

BANGKOK -- Chris Paton, until recently vice chairman of DDA Public Relations, has joined film and TV sales company Fortissimo Films as senior vp acquisitions and development.

Run by Wouter Barendrecht and Michael Werner, Hong Kong- and Netherlands-based Fortissimo is a longtime client of DDA and has had a long relationship with Paton.

"We are thrilled that Chris is joining the Fortissimo team. Our relationship with him goes back many years and his deep understanding of our company, our films, our filmmakers and our goals, combined with his unique expertise in the international market, will make Chris an invaluable member of the company," the company co-heads said in a statement Monday.

Paton, who is based in London, will be responsible for centralizing Fortissimo's acquisitions operations, developing current projects and finding new production opportunities.

"Over the many years I have known Wouter and Michael, I have long admired their extraordinary reputation with international filmmakers whose loyalty they continually instill," Paton said. "I am honored to join Fortissimo and look forward to working side-by-side with them and the impressive team they've built."

Paton started his career at TriStar Pictures in New York and later set up the U.K. arm of Falco Ink, which was then acquired by London-based agency Premier PR in 2001.
